In which
her scions speak
Henshaw, Missouri
October 28th, 1875
Freestone,
2 Kings 2:24. I know what you are.
Michael Smith, Richard Campbell, Rosa and Thomas Edwards, Evelyn Banks.
They call you a savior. They trust you now. But I know the circus came for you, and that is why they died. Lives shattered, children left without fathers and mothers, because you came here. I knew these people. They were part of my flock.
Your heart is softer than hers. I saw it in how you treated me when you came here. I am not going to accuse you or threaten you. I am simply going to ask a question. How many more? How many of us are you willing to sacrifice to stay here?
Pastor Bean,
John 6:55. I know what you are as well. A pleasure to speak to you at last.
I came here to heal. Others came here to harm. I regret spending more time defending myself from those others than healing those they did harm. I’ll say my condonlences at their funerals. I will pray to God for forgiveness, if He will give it.
I want no more avoidable deaths in this town and, God willing, there won’t be. If you wish to help prevent deaths, don’t tell sick children to avoid healing and don’t advise drunks to set fire to houses.
I have my own question. Why? I understand how at this point, but why? You know she was right before you fired the bullet.
